Bill to Expand Travel Options and Create Pilot to Increase Jury Duty Pay Signed Into Law
Yesterday, AB 1981 by Assemblymember Alex Lee (D-San Jose) was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom. AB 1981 allows jurors to be reimbursed for using public transportation and creates a pilot program to increase juror compensation, so that it does not become a financial hardship to serve on a jury.

The bill helps ensure that small businesses can receive funds to make accessibility-related improvements so that Californians with disabilities have barrier-free access to businesses and other facilities.

AB 2463, which aims to preserve conservation corps and promote volunteerism across California, recently passed out of the Senate Labor, Public Employment and Retirement Committee (5-0). The bill has now been referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
