2023 Unsung Heroes of Assembly District 24 Recognized

On Friday, April 14th, Assemblymember Alex Lee hosted an award ceremony at the Fremont Downtown Event Center to recognize the Unsung Heroes of Assembly District 24. 26 individuals and organizations from across Assembly District 24 were recognized for their contributions and commitment to the betterment of the community.
Bills Introduced to Allow Local Governments and California to Have Public Financing of Elections
At a time when voters are more concerned than ever about the dominance of Big Money in politics, Senator Tom Umberg (D-Santa Ana) and Assemblymember Alex Lee (D-San José) have introduced parallel bills, SB 24 and AB 270, to restore control to local governments and the State by allowing them to enact new options for election campaign funding.
Bill to Protect the Integrity of California Elections from Foreign Money Passes out of Elections Committee
AB 83, the “Stop Foreign Money in California Elections Act” passed out of the Elections Committee (5-2) and is now headed to the Appropriations Committee. The bill prohibits foreign influenced corporations from contributing to candidates, parties, or committees (including super PACs) in order to protect the integrity of California’s self-governance.
New Bill Provides Stronger Protection for Tenants Relying on Domestic Wells in Disadvantaged Communities
Today, Assemblymember Alex Lee announced AB 664 to ensure that tenants of rental properties served solely by domestic wells have access to safe drinking water, if well owners do not consent to consolidation or extension of service from a receiving water system.

In order to improve the health and environment of all Californians, Assemblymember Alex Lee has introduced AB 652 to require the Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) to convene an Environmental Justice Advisory Committee (EJAC) by July 1, 2025.

Bill to Study Benefits of More Equitable Taxation for Property Introduced by Assemblymember Alex Lee
Today, Assemblymember Alex Lee introduced AB 362 in order to study statewide alternatives that could incentivize more building permits in the State of California. The bill would require the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration to study the efficacy of a statewide land value taxation system as a potential alternative to current appraisal methods for real property taxation.
Bill to Pursue Social Housing in California Introduced
Today, AB 309 was introduced by Assemblymember Alex Lee to affirm that social housing can be a tool that addresses the shortage of affordable homes for all income levels in California.
