Yesterday, AB 1981 by Assemblymember Alex Lee (D-San Jose) was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom. AB 1981 allows jurors to be reimbursed for using public transportation and creates a pilot program to increase juror compensation, so that it does not become a financial hardship to serve on a jury.
In honor of Latino Heritage Month, Assemblymember Alex Lee and East Side Union High School District Vice President Lorena Chavez hosted a celebration at Taqueria Las Vegas to recognize the business and 5 local leaders in the district.
Governor Gavin Newsom recently signed AB 2463, legislation by Assemblymember Alex Lee (D-San José) to preserve conservation corps and promote volunteerism across California.
With the signing of AB 179, Assemblymember Alex Lee is proud to announce that he has secured an additional $13.8 million in state funding for local projects in Newark and San Jose, bringing the total to $31.6 million this year.

On National Disability Independence Day, Assemblymember Lee is celebrating AB 2164 passing out of the Senate Judiciary Committee (10-0). The bill helps ensure that small businesses can receive funds to make accessibility-related improvements so that Californians with disabilities have barrier-free access to businesses and other facilities.
AB 2463, which aims to preserve conservation corps and promote volunteerism across California, recently passed out of the Senate Labor, Public Employment and Retirement Committee (5-0). The bill has now been referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
AB 2382 by Assemblymember Alex Lee recently passed out of the Senate Governmental Organization Committee (10-2) and is now headed to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
