Bill to Establish Social Housing Passes off the Assembly Floor

AB 309 to establish Social Housing in California passed off of the Assembly Floor with over a supermajority of votes and is now headed to the Senate. The final vote was 55-16.

In 2018, California ranked 49th among the United States in housing units per resident, and it’s estimated that an additional 180,000 new units of housing would need to be built each year to meet demand. 

Bill to Increase Protections for Small Businesses Sails Through Assembly Floor

AB 502 by Assemblymember Alex Lee sailed out of the Assembly Floor with unanimous bipartisan support (68-0). In order to protect our small businesses, AB 502 would prohibit a listing service, such as Yelp or Google, from posting a phone number under a restaurant that does not go directly to the restaurant.

2023 Unsung Heroes of Assembly District 24 Recognized

On Friday, April 14th, Assemblymember Alex Lee hosted an award ceremony at the Fremont Downtown Event Center to recognize the Unsung Heroes of Assembly District 24. 26 individuals and organizations from across Assembly District 24 were recognized for their contributions and commitment to the betterment of the community.

Bills Introduced to Allow Local Governments and California to Have Public Financing of Elections

SB 24 and AB 270 would put a measure on the November 2024 ballot to allow voters to decide the matter

At a time when voters are more concerned than ever about the dominance of Big Money in politics, Senator Tom Umberg (D-Santa Ana) and Assemblymember Alex Lee (D-San José) have introduced parallel bills, SB 24 and AB 270, to restore control to local governments and the State by allowing them to enact new options for election campaign funding.
