Assemblymember Alex Lee Recognizes Janice Gebhardt as Woman of the Year

Assemblymember Alex Lee recognizes Janice Gebhardt as Assembly District 24’s Woman of the Year. Janice was an embryologist at the Stanford In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Lab for 27 years before retiring in 2015. Today, she is an active volunteer in supporting our most vulnerable community members and bringing aid to those in need.

“Janice Gebhardt has dedicated her career to fighting for women’s rights, and I am proud to recognize her as our district’s Woman of the Year,” said Assemblymember Lee. “Janice’s ongoing work in the community includes helping breast cancer survivors, families experiencing hunger, and survivors of domestic violence. Her work exemplifies her commitment to changing people’s lives for the better and inspires others to uplift and advocate for those in need.” 

Janice has devoted herself to community service after retiring. She is currently a Board Member of Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments (SAVE), which supports people experiencing intimate partner domestic violence. Janice is also the Donation Coordinator of Hope, Empowerment, Renewal, and Support (HERS) Breast Cancer Foundation, and she is committed to supporting breast cancer survivors embrace life to the fullest. In addition, Janice is a volunteer with the Daily Bowl, a nonprofit organization that recovers excess food and distributes it to Bay Area agencies that assist food insecure families. 

Beyond her volunteer work in the nonprofit sector, Janice is a Board Member of the Ohlone Area United Democratic Campaign, a Member of the Tri-Cities Democratic Forum, and a Council Member on the leadership team of the United Church of Christ, Fremont.
