Dear Friend,

The Assembly District 24 Youth Art Showcase is just around the corner! In partnership with the California State Library, it is my pleasure to invite students K-12 to participate in our Youth Art Contest, with the theme “A Home for Everyone.” Housing is a human right, and everyone should be able to live, play, and work in their hometowns. Submitted artwork will be judged on how it conveys concepts that illustrate "a home for everyone."

Dear Friend,

When I was elected to office, I realized that we were missing a crucial tool — namely social housing — to address California’s housing crisis. By creating publicly-led housing developments, we can provide affordable and financially self-sustaining homes for all.

Dear Friend,

I’m excited about what we can achieve together this year. I’ve introduced a series of bills to tackle the housing crisis, from creating social housing for all to protecting homeownership opportunities and tenants' rights. Beyond housing, my legislation will help promote public health, workers’ rights, the well-being of LGBTQ+ community members and more. I’ll be sure to keep you updated on our progress, and here are some of the major bills I’ve introduced:

Dear Friend,

Happy New Year! Our office is looking forward to the 2024 district events that are in the works. One of those events is the Unsung Heroes celebration in March. It’ll be a great occasion to recognize the hard work of our community members, and I’m inviting you to nominate an unsung hero of Assembly District 24 — an individual or organization whose dedication to making our district a better place may have gone unnoticed.

Dear Friend,

I hope you're doing well. November was a month filled with multicultural celebrations. Traditions like Diwali and Thanksgiving brought community members of various faiths and backgrounds together. As we gathered for these celebrations, I was reminded of the great diversity of my district, and why I'm so passionate about representing my community as your State Assemblymember.

Dear Friend,

I'm proud to see that the Governor has signed 11 of my bills, a culmination of my office's hard work over the course of this legislative year. As we continue to build on our past legislative successes, our bills will bring meaningful impacts to California's traffic fatalities, housing crisis, environmental inequalities, and beyond.

Dear Friends,

I’m pleased to invite you to our Emergency Preparedness Workshop and Walk & Talk events in late October.

Dear Friend,

It's been a productive month as we worked to move our legislation through the final steps in the State Legislature. This year, 12 of our bills were passed through the legislature and sent to the Governor's desk — legislation that helps advance housing, traffic safety, environmental justice, and more in California. The deadline for the Governor to sign or veto bills is approaching, so be sure to stay tuned for more updates!

Dear Friend,

Great news! The Social Housing Act, AB 309, was passed in the Senate Appropriations Committee. Our social housing legislation has made it the furthest any social housing bill has ever moved in the State Legislature. I’ve been pushing for social housing legislation since I first came into office three years ago. Our vision is to bring the paradigm shift of providing housing as a universal human right in California, just as we do for our schools and roads.

Dear Friend,

I’m proud to announce that the state has dedicated millions in the 2023-2024 budget for our district. The budget, which was signed by Governor Gavin Newsom last month, allocates $10.1 million to the cities of Fremont, Newark and Milpitas for education, transit, business development, services for unhoused individuals and more. This is a big win for our district, and in the meantime, our legislative package continues to make headway in the state legislature.
