I'm pleased to invite you to my upcoming Walk & Talk event with the East Bay Regional Park District at Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area (2100 Isherwood Way, Fremont, CA 94536) on Saturday, September 3 from 9 - 11 a.m.
At the Walk & Talk, I hope to connect with you regarding issues important to you or provide assistance with state or local issues. We'll also be learning about the history of the Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area, the East Bay Regional Park District, and the wildflowers and wildlife that call this area home.

Last Week of Session
We're finishing out the last week of the Legislative session where all of our bills need to get out of the Legislature! Seven of our bills are already on the Governor's desk awaiting signature including:
AB 2031 - Ensuring residents can bring representatives (such as attorneys or interpreters) to meetings with mobile home park management
AB 2164 - Allowing small businesses to access funds for ADA related improvements
AB 2463 - Preserving conservation corps and promoting volunteerism across California
AB 2949 - Exempting vehicles registered to US military veterans (including disabled veterans and purple heart recipients) from paying tolls
2022 Small Business of the Year
This month, we recognized Taqueria Las Vegas (with locations in both Milpitas and Fremont) as our Assembly District's 2022 Business of the Year! Established in 2003 by Francisco and Jesus Rodriguez, brothers that emphasize the importance of family, Taqueria Las Vegas prides itself on providing friendly service to everyone. A pillar of our community in their 19 years of service, they have always been involved in our community in various ways, including: fundraisers for our local schools, hosting yearly field trips for our high school Spanish and AVID classes, football and basketball teams end of year banquets, catering family events, high school reunions, church celebrations, nonprofit events, and feeding the unhoused. I'm grateful for all the work they do in our community!
Finally, I wanted to let you know that BART is celebrating its 50 year anniversary next month, and to commemorate, they're reducing fares by 50% for the entire month of September!
