June 2022 Newsletter

Dear Friend,

As a member of the Budget Committee, I'm proud to have secured $17,800,000 in state funding for local projects throughout Assembly District 25. This funding will go to support homelessness prevention and services, rebuilding a teen center, building an all-inclusive playground, and developing a landmark bicycle and pedestrian gateway.

Map

  • $8 Million - Fremont Teen Center Building Upgrades
  • $6 Million - Fremont 1-680/Sabercat Bridge
  • $1.5 Million - Milpitas Homelessness Prevention and Unhoused Services
  • $1 Million - Milpitas Bike Lanes Facilities Enhancement
  • $800,000 - Santa Clara Magical Bridge All-Inclusive Playground in Central Park
  • $500,000 - Fremont Housing Navigation Center

The budget also includes direct relief to working Californians, a record level of ongoing discretionary funds for our schools, and provides key, long term investments that support pandemic recovery, our schools, infrastructure, and our economy.

    • Parents would receive an additional $250 or $200, respectively, if they have at least one dependent

Roe v. Wade Update

The overturning of Roe v. Wade has been a devastating time in American history. But, we remain steadfast in California.

AB 1666, which I am a proud co-author of, was signed into law by Governor Newsom. AB 1666, which went into effect immediately, protects Californians from civil liability for providing or obtaining abortion care.

SCA 10, which I am also a co-author of, passed out of the Legislature and will come to California voters in November. If passed, it will enshrine a woman's fundamental right to reproductive access in the California Constitution.

Celebrating Pride

June is coined as Pride Month to commemorate those who fought for liberation and equality and to celebrate the resilience of the community.

Tonight, we're also celebrating Pride at Mas Fuego in Fremont from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm to honor our local leaders in this space:

  • Anjali Rimi
  • Anna Woods
  • Maureen Heath
  • Justher Gutierrez
  • Rachel Cheng

You can learn more about all the Pride Month honorees on my website.

Finally,

I wanted to highlight that summer is the hungriest time of the year for kids who depend on free meals from school. Did you know? Kids and teens across our community can get free meals all summer long! Text FOOD or COMIDA to 304-304 to find a site near you, or to learn more, visit No Kid Hungry's website.
