I hope you had an enjoyable Memorial Day weekend and were able to reflect on those who made the ultimate sacrifice for us.
Last week was the House of Origin deadline, meaning all bills that originated in the Assembly had to cross over by Friday. Below are our bills that passed out of the State Assembly and are headed over to the Senate!

As many residents have reached out about what more can be done to prevent gun violence, I also wanted to reaffirm my commitment to fighting for sensible gun laws.
Below are a few of the bills I voted in favor of recently:
- AB 1621 - Bans the manufacturing, possession or sale of guns that don't meet federal standards around background checks and would require serial numbers on all guns, tightening ghost gun laws.
- AB 2156 - Expands the prohibitions on the manufacture of firearms without proper state licensing.
- AB 2239 - Creates a 10-year firearm prohibition for individuals convicted of child abuse and elder and dependent adult abuse involving violence.
Celebrating Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month
Finally, I wanted to end on a positive note. We celebrated Asian Pacific Islander Heritage month with Milpitas Councilmembers Evelyn Chua and Anthony Phan, Santa Clara County Board of Education Trustee Victoria Chon, Alameda County Water District Director Aziz Akbari, and Santa Clara County Supervisor Otto Lee to honor the exemplary work of six individuals and organizations leading in the community.

- Vietnamese American Roundtable, an organization that envisions a strong and unified Vietnamese American community that works toward improving quality of life. VAR's mission is to organize, advocate, and educate the community by mobilization through events and coalition building, advocacy through empowering and strategy, and education through panels, workshops, and cultural events.
- Michiko Yee, President of the Country Club of Washington Township Women's Club.
- Robert Jung, Milpitas social entrepreneur leading the Milpitas Community Education Foundation and Hope for the Unhoused.
- Dr. Ramesh Konda, a key member of Indian community organizations who is committed to promoting unity, diversity, and equity.
