Speaker Rendon Appoints Efrain Escobedo to Census Committee
SACRAMENTO — Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) today announced the appointment of Efrain Escobedo to the California Complete Count Census Committee.
“Every Californian needs to be counted by the census, and it will take cooperation on every level of government and coordination with community-based organizations to do that,” Rendon said. “I know Efrain has the experience and tenacity to get this critically important job done.”
Escobedo, 43, of Pomona, has been vice president for education and immigration programs at the California Community Foundation since 2015. He was manager of government and legislative affairs for the Los Angeles County Clerk’s Office from 2009 to 2015 and senior director of civic engagement at the NALEO Education Fund from 2008 to 2009. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Escobedo is a Democrat.
The California Complete Count Census Committee was created by Governor Jerry Brown to advise his administration on census outreach strategy to encourage full participation in the 2020 federal census.
